Power of Partnership: Project HEAL's Spring Fundraising Event (MD UCEDD/LEND)

July 8, 2016

Project HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy, and Law), a community-based program of the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities at Kennedy Krieger Institute, celebrated its partnership with real estate agency RE/MAX Preferred and local restaurant Bertha's Mussels at a fundraiser on April 15, 2016.

Over two hundred supporters of Project HEAL attended the fundraiser held at RE/MAX Preferred's waterfront office in Fells Point. Attendees enjoyed hors d'oeuvres catered by Bertha's Mussels, refreshments, live music by the Brian Farley Band, and raffle prizes donated by Project HEAL's three law firm partners, Ober|Kaler, Ballard Spahr LLP, and DLA Piper (Balitmore). The event raised a total of $4,224.14, which directly benefits Project HEAL. Project HEAL, Maryland's only medical-legal partnership, provides advocacy and legal services to low- and moderate income families and children who receive clinical services at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Since December 2013, the RE/MAX Preferred owners and agents have donated a portion of their sales and commissions totaling more than $16,500. At the event, Project HEAL publically recognized Ron Howard, Ron Howard & Associates of RE/MAX Preferred, for his generous donation of $2,000 in commissions during calendar year 2015.

In addition to the monthly donations, RE/MAX Preferred hosted several events to benefit Project HEAL, and in September 2014 was a silver sponsor for Project HEAL's 10th anniversary celebration. In August of 2015, Bertha's Mussels partnered with Project HEAL by hosting several events at the restaurant to benefit Project HEAL, catering off-site events, and being an in-kind donor for Project HEAL's 10th anniversary celebration. Project HEAL is extraordinarily grateful for our corporate and law firm partners who help sustain the program. Pictured: Project HEAL staff and law trainees.
