AUCD signed onto a CCD letter expressing strong support for a timely confirmation hearing on President Obama's nominee to succeed Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court. AUCD urges the Senate Judiciary Committee to consider how unusual and troubling it would be to leave the Court without full capacity, as such a move would inhibit interpretation of critical civil rights laws, including those that protect individuals with disabilities. Without a full Supreme Court, crucial cases that pertain to disability rights could remain deadlocked or undecided until a new nominee is confirmed.
