AUCD signed onto a letter to the chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate Budget Committees that expressed support for a $5 million budget allocation to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)'s Control and Prevention Injury Center to Improve Concussion Surveillance. The CDC intends to use the funds to create a national surveillance system that will help determine the incidence of sports-related concussions in youth and neurological damage that they may trigger.
