New Publications from Heike Boeltzig-Brown in Rehabilitation Research, Policy, and Education (MA UCEDD/LEND)

March 7, 2016

Heike Boeltzig-Brown, a senior research associate and program manager at the ICI, has co-authored an article in Rehabilitation Research, Policy, and Education http://www.springerpub.com/rehabilitation-research-policy-and-education.html.

Heike also has a forthcoming article in the Journal of Postsecondary Education and Disability (JPED) http://www.ahead.org/publications/jped. Rehabilitation Research, Policy, and Education is the quarterly journal of the National Council on Rehabilitation Education https://ncre.org/. Heike's article, co-written with Allison Fleming (formerly of the ICI) and Susan Foley (an ICI senior research fellow), describes a method used to prioritize vocational rehabilitation (VR) services for individuals with most significant disabilities within the context of Order of Selection. Order of Selection refers to the priority given to applicants for VR services, depending upon their level of disability as determined by the VR agency.

This is an area where there is little known and published, so it's exciting to see Heike, Susan, and Allison at the forefront of research on this topic. Heike's JPED article, forthcoming in 2017, looks at disability and career services provision for students at Japanese colleges and universities. Heike lived in Japan for several years, and did extensive research into how disability inclusion plays out within postsecondary education. Congratulations to Heike and her co-authors!
