Project Summary:

The UWLEND built on its previously successful application of a Self Advocate LTT experience, by creating an optional second year Senior LEND Advocate position, an Advocate Faculty track, an Advocate Ally position, and an Advocate Discipline Leader position to enhance its workforce toward purposeful inclusion and support of individuals with ASD/DD in leadership and decision-making roles, including preparation for Board and Advisory Council positions.

Objectives Accomplished:

  • Extended the program's Advocacy Long Term Trainee (LTT) experience into an enhancing "Senior Year" for Advocate Fellows who successfully complete Year 1 and desire additional training and/or advancement to the Self-Advocacy Faculty Discipline Leader position
  • Developed and implemented an Advocate Faculty Position
  • Developed and implemented Advocate support roles including the Advocate Ally position and the Advocate Disclipline Leader role
  • Supported Advocate Faculty in community networking with advocate organizations in the state to expand social capital network collaboration at Washington LEND, recruit new Advocate LTT applicants, and identify technical assistance needs for inclusion of Advocate leaders. 
Work Products include:
  1. Position descriptions and "pod" support
  2. Advocate created recruitment tool "Powtoons"
  3. Mini-curriculum for LEND LTT in "Purposeful Inclusion Leadership".
