UCLA PEERS Certified Training Seminars Abroad (Tarjan Center, CA, UCEDD)

December 1, 2015

The UCLA Program for Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®) is an outpatient training program providing evidence-based, parent-assisted social skills intervention for adolescents and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson, Director of Training at the Tarjan Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities at UCLA and Founder and Director of the UCLA PEERS® Clinic, has spent much of 2015 traveling around the world training thousands of mental health professionals and educators on how to implement PEERS®.

Dedicated to the dissemination of evidence-based treatments in ASD, Dr. Laugeson has conducted PEERS® Certified Trainings in multiple locations around the world including India, China, Holland, Finland, Iceland, England, Canada, and many parts of the U.S. The PEERS® Certified Training seminars provide 24-hours of intensive didactic instruction on the implementation of PEERS® for research, clinical practice, and school-based settings.

On April 7-9, 2016, Dr. Laugeson will be conducting her fifth PEERS® Certified Training in Hong Kong. Dr. Laugeson was asked by the Vocation Training Council, New Page, and The SAHK Institute of Rehabilitation to lead the multiple trainings that have been conducted in Hong Kong.

In addition to receiving the PEERS® Certified training from Dr. Laugeson, the SAHK Rehabilitation Institute is also conducting a cross cultural validation study on PEERS® in Cantonese using a randomized control trial to test the effectiveness of PEERS® in Hong Kong.

PEERS® Certified Training seminars are also offered regularly at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). These trainings are designed for mental health professionals and educators who are interested in learning how to implement the PEERS® program in their own practice or school setting. Upcoming seminars will be held at UCLA on the following dates:

  • February 24-26, 2016
  • May 18-20, 2016
  • June 23-25, 2016
