MDSibs 2015 (MD UCEDD/LEND)

November 2, 2015

The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council hosted Maryland's first-ever statewide gathering of siblings of people with developmental disabilities and others interested in sibling issues. The Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities at Kennedy Krieger Institute, along with other state organizations and agencies, helped support the conference.

Maureen van Stone, the associate director of the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities, and Chevelle Lampkin, assistant principal at Edmonson-Westside High School in Baltimore City Public School System, facilitated a 75-minute interactive discussion on bullying, harassment, and intimidation of students with disabilities. Participants in the session were teen siblings of a person with an intellectual or development disabilities who wished to learn more about the topic, and how to help their sibling.
