Texas Center for Disability Studies Welcomes New Director, Amy Sharp (TX UCEDD)

The Texas Center for Disability Studies at The University of Texas at Austin is pleased to announce the appointment of our new executive director, Amy Sharp, PhD. Dr. Sharp joined our team on Monday, September 21st and has hit the ground running!

Sharp earned a bachelor's degree in writing from the University of Houston in 1985, a master's in education from Angelo State University in 1995, and her doctorate in special education from Texas A&M University in 2002. For the past 10 years, Dr.Sharp has served as the Associate Director at our sister UCEDD, the Center on Disability and Development at Texas A&M University. While at Texas A&M, Dr. Sharp was responsible for the oversight and creation of numerous programs and initiatives, including the Family Support Network and Camp LIFE. Sharp has been active as a national leader, serving on the Board of Directors for AUCD as well as on several AUCD councils.

The Texas Center for Disability Studies looks forward to Dr. Sharp's new leadership and vision as we continue to collaborate with local, state, and national partners to improve the lives of people with disabilities, their families, and their communities.
