April Trainee Focus: Policy, Poster Sessions, and Autism Awareness and Acceptance

April Focus: Policy

Many of us are attending the Disability Policy Seminar this month, and if you are, we can't wait to see you! If you are holding down the fort at home, please read through the Fact Sheets (http://www.thearc.org/dps) to understand what's being discussed on a national level, and investigate your local or state initiatives. Don't forget to visit your legislators while they're home on break! Policy change happens because of all of us, not just the people in DC!

Seminar attendees- don't forget your business cards!

If you don't have any, print some out using heavy paper. The DPS attracts many national partners and is an important networking opportunity to meet peers and potential employers. Also, make sure to follow the @AUCDvt twitter for seminar information and social hour info.

End of Year Poster Sessions

Virginia LEND and the Ohio State Nisonger and Cincinnati LENDs are sharing their posters from the end of the year presentations on the AUCD Trainees Facebook page. Trainee Liaisons can help showcase their program's accomplishments by posting or sending posters (pdf format) to the Virtual Trainee. If your program doesn't have a Trainee Liaison, or you just want to share your own work, post a picture of your poster and we will add it to our Posters Album. Let's see what everyone accomplished this year!

April is Autism Awareness (and Acceptance) Month!

AUCD will be posting to their social media channels throughout the month with stories, resources, and network projects that focus on people with autism and their families. Do you have a story or resource to share? Post to the AUCD Trainees facebook page or send your story to the Virtual Trainee to share it with the network.
