News from Act Early Network Partners Act Early Forum Webinar: Healthy Beginnings System of Care Project
 Please join the next Act Early Webinar as we welcome Susan Bertonaschi, Director of Health Promotion at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, to introduce the Healthy Beginnings System of Care project. This project was designed to address the goal of helping young children become and stay healthy, develop well, and thrive socially and emotionally in order to achieve academic success. Ms. Bertonaschi and Healthy Beginnings Health Navigator, Johnnie Thomas, RN, from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, will describe this wrap-around model which provides health education, navigation, and developmental screening and links families to health, educational and social support services. AUCD Welcomes Abigail (Abbey) Alberico as Project Manager for the Public Health Team
 Abigail Alberico is the Project Manager for the Public Health team. She supports and creates capacity development activities in the areas of birth defects, developmental disabilities, and health promotion for people living with a disability. She provides technical assistance to the UCEDDs and LENDs network centers, State Disability and Health programs, and Learn the Signs. Act Early. Ambassadors and State Systems Grantees. Abigail received a Master of Public Health degree in Communication and Marketing in the Department of Prevention and Community Health from The Milken Institute School of Public Health at The George Washington University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the University of Maryland, College Park.

News from the Act Early Network Early Access: Building Screening Capacity in Oklahoma
 The Oklahoma Early Access Autism Project was initiated in 2010 with the goal of increasing capacity for early identification of ASD across Oklahoma and improving access to needed services, especially for populations who may not have access to traditional services. Early Access has developed a screening model which utilizes high-quality screening tools and connects families to resources. Early Access trains community service providers to implement this ASD screening model in their own communities and service areas. Read More...

New Clinical Report from the AAP Council on Children with Disabilities
 The vast majority of children and youth with chronic and complex health conditions who also have intellectual and developmental disabilities are cared for in their homes. Social, legal, policy, and medical changes through the years have allowed for an increase in needed support within the community. However, there continues to be a relatively small group of children who live in various types of congregate care settings. This clinical report describes these settings and the care and services that are provided in them. The report also discusses reasons families choose out-of-home placement for their children, barriers to placement, and potential effects of this decision on family members. Read More...

 Just as a car's dashboard provides the driver with a quick view of how the car is functioning, the Healthy Connecticut 2020 Performance Dashboard displays in a simple visual format, how the residents of Connecticut are faring in health improvement target areas such as heart disease, obesity, obtaining vaccinations, exposure to environmental risks, and many more as identified in Healthy Connecticut 2020 State Health Improvement Plan.
