Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Passes House 415-6

Bill will help the next generation of young people with disabilities take their rightful place in the competitive workforce

July 10, 2014

"Yesterday evening's vote of 415-6 is a testament to the strong bipartisan support for this important bill that modernizes the vocational rehabilitation system and strengthens the Administration for Community Living by moving independent living and disability research programs there," said Andrew Imparato, AUCD Executive Director who worked on the bill from 2010 to last September as Chairman Harkin's Disability Policy Director. "I am grateful to Chairman Kline, Ranking Member Alexander, Congresswoman Foxx, and Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers for their work on the disability provisions of the bill, and delighted to see Chairman Harkin and Ranking Member Miller achieve another bipartisan victory during their final year in Congress."
