UCLA Certificate Program in Patient Advocacy (MD UCEDD)

The Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities  is pleased to announce a new trainee from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). UCLA is providing a certification in patient advocacy upon completion of an application and online courses.

Diane Bark, is a business owner and Maryland resident, who is raising an adolescent son with a developmental disabilty. After volunteering for an MCDD community-based program for one year, Ms. Bark enrolled in the UCLA certificate program and branched out to the MCDD's information dissemination core function --- The Resource Finder at Kennedy Krieger Institute, which provides local, state, and national resources for families raising children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Ms. Bark works as a trainee for a minimum of four hours per week, and she will complete her certificate requirements next year.

The MCDD is very proud of this new training opportunity, and Ms. Bark's dedication to the patients and families served at Kennedy Krieger Institute.
