The Langston University Rehabilitation Research and Training Center in partnership with AUCD are hosting a national informational webinar for AUCD centers affiliated with minority-serving institutions.
Webinar Description:
Researchers from Langston University Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (LU-RRTC) on Research and Capacity Building for Minority Entities will provide an overview of available Technical Assistance opportunities for AUCD centers as well as current research projects. Specifically, LU-RRTC team would provide details about one of their key projects that focuses on seeking information from key informants on challenges and opportunities research centers experience in their effort to generate new knowledge that informs policy, practice, and research. Key informants for this project would be personnel (Principal investigators (PI), Co-investigators, Fellows, and research associates) affiliated with the MSI-based centers.
LU-RRTC will use the study findings to highlight visibility of high-quality research created through MSI-based research centers. The LU-RRTC will also use study findings to make recommendations to policy makers, NIDILRR and other federal research funding agencies, and other stakeholders on how to address identified challenges.
The webinar will feature:
- A presentation on LU-RRTC mission, goals, and objectives.
- An overview of available TA opportunities and current research projects.
- An Introduction to a current research participation opportunity examining Federally Funded MSI-Based Research Centers' Strategies for Advancing the Disability/Rehabilitation or Health Science.
- Participants will learn study participation eligibility criteria.
Who should attend?
All personnel (e.g., PIs, Co-PIs, Co-investigators, Fellows, and research associates) affiliated with AUCD centers at minority-serving institution.
Presenters:
Andre Washington, PhD, CRC is currently serving dual roles as a Co-Principle Investigator and Technical Assistance Coordinator at the Langston University Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (LU-RRTC) on Research and Capacity Building for Minority Entities and as a Research Assistant Professor within the Rehabilitation Counseling Program. Dr. Washington is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and has over 19 years of experience in vocational rehabilitation counseling as an advocate, practitioner, educator, researcher. Dr. Washington serves nationally on the board of the National Association of Multicultural Rehabilitation Concerns (NAMRC). Dr. Washington served as Co-PI for over $8 million dollars of federally funded grants and has co-authored several peer-reviewed research publications and monographs, and research briefs. Dr. Washington obtained his masters' degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Langston University and his doctoral degree in Workforce Education from the Oklahoma State University.
Dr. Dytisha Davis currently serves as a Research Assistant Professor within the Langston University Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (LU-RRTC) on Research and Capacity Building for Minority Entities. Dr. Davis is a Co-Principle Investigator and works with fellow team members in developing manuscripts that have been published in peer-reviewed journals and the Center's Policy Research Brief white paper series. In addition, Dr. Davis is the Executive Director of the Langston University-Tulsa Campus and a core faculty member within the Rehabilitation Counseling Program. Dr. Davis is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and has eight years as an educator. Dr. Davis obtained her masters' degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from South Carolina State University and her doctoral degree in Rehabilitation Counselor Education from the University of Iowa.
