Webinar Descriptions:

The conceptualization of disability has grown recently and with that, what how we measure different constructs related to individuals with disabilities has grown as well. This webinar gives an overview of disability and measurement as it relates to health and provides some new avenues to explore.

Presenter Information:

Moderator: James H. Rimmer, PhD, is a Professor in the School of Health Professions and the first Lakeshore Foundation Endowed Chair in Health Promotion and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He currently serves as director of the UAB-Lakeshore Foundation Research Collaborative and Director of the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability. For the past 30 years, he has been developing and directing health promotion programs for people with disabilities aimed at reducing obesity, increasing physical activity and improving nutrition in youths, adults, and seniors with disabilities. His research and programmatic interests explore the use of new and emergent technologies in developing behavioral and environmental strategies to promote beneficial physical activity and healthful weight management in youths and adults with disabilities.

Presenter: Erin Vinoski Thomas, MPH, CHES attends UNC Charlotte and is currently pursuing a PhD ins Public Health Sciences

Presenter: Chandra Char MPH, attends Oregon State University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Health with an emphasis in Health Promotion and Health Behavior.

Presenter: Kimberley Scott, PT, DPT, is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy. She attends The Ohio State University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
