Clinical Research for Rare Diseases: Opportunities, Challenges, and Solutions

This educational seminar is sponsored by the NIH and Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network.

This one-day conference will be particularly informative for new investigators, trainees, junior faculty, and others interested in rare disease research methodology. This event includes a full-day conference, an evening poster session, and dinner with speaker Francis Collins, MD, Ph.D. Investigators actively engaged in rare disease research, as well as speakers from the NIH, the FDA, and the Biopharmaceutical Industry, will present timely information on the spectrum of topics that can promote successful research in rare diseases.

Attendees will have the opportunity to present their current projects during a poster session. Travel awards are available on a competitive basis, and there is no registration fee.

Travel awards up to $750 will be available on a competitive basis for trainees, fellows, and junior faculty. Individuals who wish to compete for these awards must submit an expanded abstract (1 page) and plan to attend the poster session. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS FOR TRAVEL AWARDS IS Friday July 20, 2007. Requests for travel awards will be judged by a committee from the Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network and winners of Travel Awards will be notified by August 3, 2007 and will be selected for a poster display.
