About this Webinar:
This webinar will offer interested potential applicants an opportunity to interact with AUCD Leadership Academy faculty and alumni. The webinar will feature a brief overview of the 2019 Academy curriculum and timeline (25 minutes).
This will be followed by reflections from alumni about the benefits they gained from participation in the week-long academy and the follow-up activities.
Alumni also will discuss the value of the following:
- Continuing vital conversations through post Academy webinars;
- Staying connected to colleagues and Academy faculty through leadership ally calls;
- Taking the learning back to their center and other professional contexts through relationships with leadership mentors;
- Reflecting on impact of leadership work and intentional action on their personal and professional trajectories
This will be followed by a time for questions from potential applicants to the 2019 AUCD Leadership Academ.
Presenters
Chanda Dunn, LCW

Chanda Dunn received her Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia (UGA) in 2009. She went on to obtain her Master of Social Work and a Marriage and Family Therapy Certificate from UGA in 2012.
Ms. Dunn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Tennessee. She has served as a Social Worker at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center's Boling Center for Developmental Disabilities since November 2015. She currently serves as a social work field instructor in LEND and as supervisor for both bachelors and masters level students in several Mid-South colleges and universities. Ms. Dunn is an Adjunct Faculty Member in the Social Work Department at the University of Memphis School of Public Policy and Affairs. Her clinical practice experience has included work in trauma and attachment, children and adolescents, individual and family therapy, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. She has facilitated over 15 trainings in the areas of parenting, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and trauma.

Jeiri Flores is a strong, passionate Puerto Rican disability rights activist from Rochester, NY. Jeiri earned her BS Degree in Sociology and African-American Studies at SUNY Brockport in 2014. In her current position, supervises a group of Rochester residents who have dedicated a year of their lives to service, while coordinating different community service projects. Jeiri serves as a resource for residents in her community by connecting them to existing services and supports. She serves on advisory committees for Rochester's Complex Care Center, which serves adults with childhood-onset conditions; the Self-Advocacy Resource Technical Assistance Center; and the Rochester City School District Special Education Program. As a disability advocate, Jeiri shares her unique perspective at various colleges and conferences where she introduces attendees to the struggles and invisibility people with disabilities face. She provides insight regarding inclusion, citizenship, disability intersectionality and challenges that remain unaddressed by society. Additionally, she has facilitated a variety of disability awareness workshops and has consulted with NYS Partners in Policymaking Program and the UCEDD at the University of Rochester's Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities. Jeiri hopes to influence young disabled people to fulfill their purpose and create a new a narrative for what it means to be disabled.
Suzannah Iadarola, PhD

Suzannnah Iadarola is a clinical researcher and pediatric psychologist specializing in serving children with I/DD and their families. Her research experiences have emphasized behavioral intervention, community partnered research, and amelioration of stress in families of children with IDD. These research efforts have resulted in independent funding. She has also extended her clinic-based research on parent stress to better understand the experiences of parents of children with IDD from historically underserved groups who have often been overlooked in research. To this end, she is engaged in two large-scale, multi-site, community-partnered trials to reduce educational and service disparities for children with developmental needs in under-resourced, urban schools. This work also supports her active participation in community-based collaborative action networks focused on reducing racial and socio-economic access disparities. To further partner with the community, she assumed a director role within her state-funded Rochester Regional Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder (RRCASD), a program dedicated to increasing access to evidence based services for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Since taking on this role, the center has developed numerous new programs, and expanded its team to include self-advocates and family members. Clinically, she provides differential diagnostic evaluations for children when there is a suspicion of ASD. In addition, she provides outpatient behavioral intervention for children with IDD and moderate/severe challenging behavior. She received her master's and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
