Tribal Summit for American Indian and Alaska Native Young Adults with Disabilities

Wednesday, May 30, 2007- Friday, June 1, 2007
Location: Albuquerque, NM

Abstract

The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) has partnered with the Indian Health Service (IHS) and the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) to hold a conference on Youth with Disabilities, which is part of the New Freedom Initiative. Through this conference we aim to bring together the four most important groups: the youth, the Tribal governments, the State governments, and the Federal government. By doing this we hope to bring the expected standards of living for youth with disabilities to that of any person without a disability. We will be showcasing on best practices and roundtable discussions so that members of all groups can get their voices heard.
