This meeting brings together grantees of several of MCHB's leadership training programs for a day of information sharing and collaboration. Expected attendees at this meeting include program directors and/or key faculty, and trainees if your budget allows, from the following programs: LEND, LEAH, DBP, PPC, SPH, and Nutrition.

Theme: Interprofessional Education in the Era of Health Care Reform

Meeting Objectives

  • Increase understanding of key themes of ACA and health systems transformation important for advancing health of MCH populations particularly 1) systems development and integration, and 2) change management, and knowledge of strategies for teaching them in interprofessional (interdisciplinary) training programs.
  • Increase knowledge of innovative methods currently being used for interprofessional (interdisciplinary) training in MCH training programs.
  • Identify strengths and gaps in how we evaluate the outcomes of MCH-funded interprofessional (interdisciplinary) training and make recommendations for improvement.

As part of this meeting, participants will attend one workshop designed to focus on either of two skill sets, important for trainees to develop in order to navigate as leaders in the changing landscape. Hosted by staff from the UNC National MCH Workforce Development Center, these interactive workshops are designed to raise the visibility of these two key sets of skills to stimulate more thorough engagement within training grants and across all the training grants. Please indicate in your registraton your attendance at one workshop:

  • Systems development and integration
This workshop will focus on ways to develop change management/leadership skills necessary to engage in the broad sweep of ACA implementation.
  • Change management
This workshop will focus on ways to develop skills in systems thinking, another key element of ACA implementation.
