In light of the deinstitutionalization movement and the 1999 Supreme Court Olmstead decision, many efforts have been made throughout the DD network to ensure individuals who move into integrated community settings are provided with not only appropriate care, but also quality care. This webinar discussed the UCEDDs' role in community integration and introduced a new toolkit developed by AUCD that highlights the UCEDDs' specific functions in this area. The purpose of which was to (1) inform the UCEDD network of the various network activities supporting community integration to encourage collaboration on key issues, and national initiatives and (2) inform the larger DD network of the role of UCEDDs in this critical area to clarify expectations and foster meaningful partnerships.

PLEASE NOTEThe toolkit is the beginning of what we hope will be a tremendous resource to our network, state and national partners, individuals with disabilities and their family members, as well as policymakers. If your UCEDD would like to make any updates, additions, or edits to the table, please send information directly to Kristina Majewski at [email protected]To view and browse the toolkit please go to the UCEDD Resource Center Website at www.aucd.org/urc and click on the "Promising Practices" page.  You can also reach the toolkit homepage directly by clicking here
