Speakers
Sarah Taub, MA
Sarah Taub is a Senior Policy Specialist with the Human Services Research Institute. She currently oversees HSRI's work on the National Core Indicators (NCI) Program, a joint effort between NASDDDS and HSRI to measure indicators and benchmarks of performance across state developmental disabilities service systems. She also provides technical assistance to states in the areas of quality assurance and improvement strategies. Prior to joining HSRI, she worked as a direct support provider for adults with intellectual disabilities. She holds a Master's Degree in Management of Human Services from the Heller School at Brandeis University and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Cornell University.
Kathy Sheppard-Jones, PhD, CRC
Dr. Sheppard-Jones is the Training Director at the Human Development Institute at the University of Kentucky where she facilitates the Graduate Certificate in Developmental Disabilities, an 11 credit hour interdisciplinary learning experience for post-baccalaureate students that focuses on leadership and research in the field of developmental disabilities. She has overseen Kentucky's participation in National Core Indicators since 1999. In this role, she also coordinates Kentucky's NCI Quality Improvement Committee, the group responsible for providing recommendations to the state based on NCI results. Dr Sheppard-Jones currently serves as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on six projects of state and national significance.
Dr. Sheppard-Jones is also Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling Department, where she teaches on transition, independent living, supported employment, and human growth and development. Her research interest areas are quality of life, assistive technology, and transition to postsecondary education.
