Healthy eating and physical activity are important aspects of all peoples’ lives, including people with disabilities.  This webinar will feature Amy Rauworth, MS, RCEP on behalf of the National Center on Physical Activity and Disability (NCPAD), a resource center dedicated to providing physical activity and nutrition programs that acknowledge and address the individual needs of every person. NCPAD will share their program successes and offer ideas for inclusive programs at the community and local level.  Join the webinar for an engaging discussion on including people with disabilities in your health promotion efforts.

Presenter Details

Jim Rimmer, PhD

Dr. Rimmer is a Professor in the Department of Disability and Human Development, Adjunct Professor in the School of Public Health and Department of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. He is Director of two federally funded Centers, the National Center on Physical Activity and Disability (funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Exercise Physiology and Recreational Technologies for Persons with Disabilities (funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research.  Dr. Rimmer's research has focused on the effects of physical activity on reduction of secondary conditions, including obesity and deconditioning, in adults and youth with physical and cognitive disabilities.

Amy Rauworth, MS, RCEP

Ms. Rauworth is the Associate Director of Operations and Exercise Physiology Research at the Center on Health Promotion Research for Persons with Disabilities (CHP) at the University of Illinois Chicago.  She is a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist with the American College of Sports Medicine.  She has applied exercise physiology experience in the areas of orthopedic and cardiac rehabilitation, health promotion, and corporate wellness.  Ms. Rauworth conducts Inclusive Fitness trainings nationally on behalf of NCPAD and specializes in accessible fitness center design.
