Innovative Approaches: Treatment for People with Developmental Disabilities & Psychiatric Disorders 7th Annual Conference

The Tarjan Center at UCLA and  The State of California Department of Developmental Services: Health Development Section announce, "Innovative Approaches: Treatment for People with Developmental Disabilities & Psychiatric Disorders 7th Annual Conference."  Sponsored by: The UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. CME credits will be offered.

This full-day conference will provide psychiatrists and other health and mental health professionals an overview of the special mental health needs of people with developmental disabilities.  Speakers will discuss the appropriate use of psychotropic medications in this group of individuals.  The psychiatric use of anti-convulsants will be reviewed.  Community based primary care for people with complex medical and behavioral needs will be addressed.   A conceptual framework will be presented for assessment and treatment of aggression in youth. Finally, a panel will discuss care of individuals with limited communication.
