From 2019-2021, the UCEDD Resource Center (URC) supported a pilot implementing the plan, with the creation of the Plain Language Advisory Group and Spanish Language Caucus. Join us to learn about the work of both groups, what the URC has learned in its efforts to improve the language and communications accessibility of its technical assistance, and how this might apply to the work at your center or program. She brings to this role nearly 20 years of experience working with people with disabilities and their families. Sarah earned an MSW from the National Catholic School of Social Service at the Catholic University of American in Washington, DC.=0D=0A=0D=0A =0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A =0D=0A=0D=0ARose Ann Percival is currently the Community Partnerships Coordinator for the OUHSC Center for Learning and Leadership (CLL). Prior to CLL, she served in many capacities with OKDHS for 27 years with 22 of those years with Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS). She has worked for ten years at the Center for Learning and Leadership, Oklahoma's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities as the Community Partnership Coordinator and project director for Oklahoma Self-Advocacy Network. She served as the statewide facilitator for the Oklahoma Olmstead Strategic Planning Committee, OK Respite Resource Network, coordinator of the Self-Directed Services Advisory Committee for Developmental Disabilities Services, programs manager for self-direction, the Governor's Blue Ribbon Panel on Disabilities and serves on the board of Oklahoma People First.=0D=0A=0D=0A =0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0ALaura Rodríguez-López is the Training Director for the Florida Center for Inclusive Communities (FCIC), the University of South Florida's (USF) UCEDD. Laura's work with FCIC involves leadership of the interdisciplinary training program. In her role, she oversees the UCEDD's Cultural & Linguistic Competence workgroup which aims to improve the center's intercultural and intracultural capacity to work with the diverse groups of people in the communities it serves. She supports AUCD's equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice (EDI&J) efforts by serving as a member of the Multicultural Council, the Spanish Caucus, as steering committee member for the National Training Directors Council, and as an ED&I Implementor. Originally from Puerto Rico, Laura moved to Tampa, Florida in 2009 to pursue her graduate studies and be closer to family. She is a caretaker and a sibling to two family members with disabilities.=0D=0A=0D=0A =0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0ANancy Ward was a founding member of the national self-advocacy organization, Self-Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE) and served as the first Chairperson. She began her career with Advocacy First of Lincoln in 1979. She assisted with building the self-advocacy movement in Nebraska before moving to Oklahoma in 1997 to build Oklahoma People First. Nancy has served as the Information Coordinator for the Medicaid Reference Desk and currently for the Oklahoma Disability Law Center as the SABE Voter Project Coordinator and trainer in Oklahoma. Ms. Ward is currently a Master Trainer for Sexual Health and Wellness, Self-Advocate Leadership Training, Let's Make a Plan: Getting Ready for an Emergency, Disability Awareness, How to Deal with Bullying and Taking Control of Your Health.
