This year at the SNTI, the Center for START Services will be recognizing AUCD's Liz Weintraub with our highest honor, the William I Gardner Award. The award recognizes a national leader who has made a significant contribution to improve the lives of people with IDD and mental health needs. Previous recipients of the award include US Senator Maggie Hassan, former US Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher, founding director of the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins Developmental Neuropsychology Program Dr. James Harris, attorney and civil rights advocate Deborah Dorfman, and NADD founder Robert Fletcher.About Bill Gardner: Bill contributed prolifically to the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities and was a beloved mentor, friend, and member of the START National Training Team who passed away in 2014. Bill is well known for developing a multimodal diagnostic assessment model as well as diagnostically-based treatments in IDD, and his work has been internationally accepted and is considered the "gold standard" of assessment and treatment practices. The Center for START Services is currently accepting research poster proposals for the 2020 SNTI Research Poster Session that will be held on Monday May 4th in Austin, Texas following the afternoon SNTI breakout sessions Poster content should be research based and focus on practices, tools or interventions that promote positive outcomes for individuals with IDD and behavioral health needs. Posters will be judged by a committee of experts in the field of MHIDD and poster winners will be announced the following day at the 2020 START Awards LuncheonSubmission deadline is Friday March 20, 2020.
