She completed her PhD in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Early Childhood Intervention Leadership from the University of Connecticut under the Office of Special Education Programs (U.S. Department of Education) Leadership Grant. She began her career in early intervention in her undergraduate studies at The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. and through her Post-Graduate Certification in Applied Behavior Analysis at Penn State University. Her area of interest is in children birth-5 with disabilities and developmental delays, supporting children with autism spectrum disorders and their families, transitions into preschool, using data based decision making instruction, and personnel preparation. She is currently the co-chair for the Leadership Community of Practice for the Division for Early Childhood and a reviewer for the journal Infants and Young Children and the International Journal of Child Care and Education Policy.=0D=0A=0D=0A =0D=0A=0D=0ADana Childress, Ph.D is an Early Intervention Professional Development Consultant with the Partnership for People with Disabilities at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has worked in the field of early intervention (EI) for 24 years as an educator, service coordinator, supervisor, trainer, author, and consultant. She currently works as part of Virginia's EI professional development team developing resources and conducting web-based and in-person training. She manages content for the Virginia Early Intervention Professional Development Center (www.veipd.org/main/) and writes the Early Intervention Strategies for Success blog (www.veipd.org/earlyintervention). Dana is the co-author of the book, Family-Centered Practices in Early Intervention: Supporting Infants and Toddlers in Natural Environments. Her interests include adult learning and EI service delivery, family centered practices, supporting family implementation of intervention strategies, and finding ways to help bridge the research to practice gap through interactive professional development for in-service EI practitioners. She regularly presents workshops, has consulted with other states, and has presented at state and national conferences.=0D=0A=0D=0A =0D=0A=0D=0ASarah Nichols is a Professional Development (PD) Specialist with the Early Intervention Training Program (EITP) at the University of Illinois. She has worked in Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) for 20 years as a service coordinator (SC), statewide trainer, Community of Practice (CoP) leader, author, and consultant. For the last 10 years Sarah’s time and interests have focused on curriculum development and evidence-informed PD for adult learners seeking distance learning opportunities within ECI. In her role, she leads the instructional design and development of online trainings, webinars, and blended learning formats. Sarah also facilitates statewide and national CoPs for administrators, supervisors, trainers, professional development providers, service coordinators and practitioners and is the co-author of the book Growing Together: Developing and Sustaining a Community of Practice in Early Childhood. As a former SC, Sarah continues to share interests and a passion for service coordination and is committed to finding ways to better prepare, support and empower SCs so they can successfully partner with families and be recognized as professionals in EI. She also has an interest in research and a desire to further the evidence base as it relates to service coordination, CoPs, leadership development and evidence-informed PD in ECI.
