Summary:This month, AIR-P celebrated Autism Acceptance Month with two webinar presentations!
We held a back-to-back webinar session as follows.
12-1pm PT / 3-4pm ET: The Intersection of Autism, Health, Poverty and Racial Equity (2022 National Autism Indicators Report (NAIR)). This presentation will be provided by Dr. Lindsay Shea and Dr. Kristy Anderson from Drexel Autism Institute.
1-2pm PT / 4-5pm ET: Why Studying Puberty in Autism Research Matters. This presentation will be provided by Dr. Jenny Mai Phan, postdoctoral fellow at University of Wisconsin Madison.

Lessons Learned from AUCD's Language and Communications Access Plan

Summary:In this webinar, we will share about AUCD's Language and Communications Access Plan and lessons learned from the first two years of implementation. From 2019-2021, the UCEDD Resource Center (URC) supported a pilot implementing the plan, with the creation of the Plain Language Advisory Group and Spanish Language Caucus. Join us to learn about the work of both groups, what the URC has learned in its efforts to improve the language and communications accessibility of its technical assistance, and how this might apply to the work at your center or program.

Promoting Vaccine Confidence in Neurodivergent Communities: Lessons Learned from Stakeholder Engagement and Social Media Outreach

Summary:This webinar will present lessons learned from a project that seeks to promote vaccine confidence in the disability community during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this student-driven project, supported by an AUCD-CDC Dissemination Innovation Mini-grant, students and trainees from UCLA and LA COVID volunteers conducted a stakeholder engagement strategy to inform communication and dissemination efforts to promote vaccine confidence.

Disability and Health Data System (DHDS): Using Data to Take Action

Summary:Join Dr. Qi Cheng, a lead analyst from CDC/NCBDDD as she shares the 2021 Disability and Health Data System (DHDS) release. Learning to Face Fears from Home: Unexpected Benefits and Discoveries

Summary:The purpose of this webinar will be to describe an evidence-based, manualized group cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) program for youth with ASD and anxiety, called Facing Your Fears (FYF). Following a brief description of FYF, we will discuss specific ways that FYF has been adapted for virtual delivery, including successes and challenges. Presenters include clinicians who co-facilitate the FYF virtual groups, as well as parent of a teen with ASD and anxiety who participated in the FYF groups.
