Labor Secretary Urges Champions of Workplace Accessibility to Apply for 2006 New Freedom Initiative Award.  U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao urged corporations, small businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals who have demonstrated exemplary and innovative efforts in enhancing employments opportunities for workers with disabilities to apply for the 2006 New Freedom Initiative award.  Nominations must be submitted by May 31, 2006.  Additional information on the award and specific nomination criteria are available under the New Freedom Initiative tab.

Request for Information on Disability Studies Programs. The Institute on Disability and Human Development (IL UCEDD) at the University of Illinois at Chicago is compiling a comprehensive list of programs, course offerings and professors focusing on disability studies nationwide. Please forward information about disability studies contacts and courses in your area to Mary Kay Rizzolo.

Preparing Individuals with Autism for Dental Care.  The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Excellence (TN UCEDD) is considering developing a patient education unit that would prepare individuals with autism for dental care.   Materials and resources that have been already been developed in this area are being requested by Teri Urbano at this time.

Call for Statements of Need for Consideration by Easter Seals Project ACTION in Fiscal Year 2006.  Statements must be received by May 31, 2006 for the FY2006/2007 program.  Easter Seals Project ACTION (ESPA) is collecting ideas for research and project development that would advance its goals. ESPA will use these statements to identify its contract funding priorities for the fiscal year 2006/2007 program.
