Educational Requests/Opportunities

U.S.-Germany exchange program:  The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) is a federally-funded scholarship exchange program between and the United States. The one-year cultural exchange is designed to give 75 Americans and 100 Germans an understanding and knowledge of everyday life in the host country by living with a host family, studying at a college, and working with a company or organization.  Strong interest in German and international affairs is essential, although German language skills are not required to apply. Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply.  For more information, contact Catherine Pfaffenroth at 212- 497-3522.

Call for Abstracts. The Festival of International Conferences on Caregiving, Disability, Aging and Technology (FICCDAT) to be held June 16 - 19, 2007 in Toronto, Ontario, , invites submissions of 250-word abstracts for papers or posters online at www.ficcdat.ca by November 6. FICCDAT brings together five international conferences related to disability and to aging under one roof. The five conferences are:

• Growing Older with a Disability
• Advances in Neurorehabilitation
• 2nd International Conference on Technology & Aging (ICTA)
• Caregivers: Essential Partners in Care
• 30th CMBES Conference: Improving Medical Device Usability

Follow-up: Second International Conference on Birth Defects and Disabilities in the Developing World. The 2005 conference in , with 1,200 participants from almost 40 countries on six continents, was an important step toward focusing international attention on and commitment to birth defects prevention throughout the developing world.
