NEWS FROM AUCD NATIONAL OFFICE

Central Office Offering Leadership Fellowship in Disability.  The overall purpose of the fellowship is to offer a significant experience in national level activities related to policy and legislative development, advocacy, program development, technical assistance, and association administration.   The Leadership Fellowship in Disability is envisioned as a mutually beneficial arrangement whereby the participating individual, the home UCEDD/LEND/DDRC program and the AUCD central office benefits. Applications are due November 30, 2006, and the fellowship is expected to begin in early 2007.   For additional information, please contact George Jesien or Kim Musheno.  Interested applicants may also contact Laura Walker, current Policy Fellow, for additional information. 

Congratulations to AUCD-APHA Scholarship Recipients.  AUCD in collaboration with the American Public Health Association (APHA) DisAbility Special Interest Group (DisAbility SPIG) are excited to announce the nine recipients of 2006 APHA Conference Scholarships supporting AUCD Network Trainees to attend the 2006 APHA Annual Meeting from November 4-8, 2006 in Boston, MA.   This is a great opportunity for the education and training of the next generation of leaders in public health and disability research.  Contact Sue Lin, Project Director, for more information.

Reminder: Mark Your Calendars!  March 4-6, 2007: 2007 Disability Policy Seminar, Hyatt Regency Hotel; Washington, DC 20001. The Arc of the United States, United Cerebral Palsy, AAMR, AUCD, and the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities are joining together to host the 2007 Disability Policy Seminar.   A preliminary seminar agenda, seminar registration information and hotel registration information for the 2007 Seminar will available soon.
