The Mission of Family to Family Network is to help families with chidden with disabilities by providing information, training, referrals, and support, which includes the following: 1. Offer information and referral to resources; one on one ethnical assistance on the special education process or navigating other service systems 2. Provide Community Outreach at local resource fairs to individuals sharing advice and support with family members as we speak individually to them; or helping family members, educators, and service providers learn more about F2F and Texas Project FIRST 3. Offered training at our annual conference, in our office, and in the community to youth with disabilities, their family members and interested community members Types of trainings offered: - Special Ed 101 - Navigating the Special Education process - Increase your participation in the IEP process - Partnering with families i the special education process - Transition planning - Graduation in the IEP - Autism Supplement - Strategies to support students - Navigating the Medicaid Waiver programs and Community First Choice - Person Centered Thinking - Social Security & Work Incentives - DARS Information - Guardianship & Alternatives to Guardianship - Supported Decision-Making In FY 2020 F2F: 1) Provided information & referral to resources; one-to-one technical assistance on the special education process or navigating other service systems to 912 individuals 2) Delivered Community Outreach at local resource fairs to 442 individuals sharing advice and support with family members as we speak individually to them; or helping family members, educators, and service providers learn more about navigating the various systems, F2F and Texas Project FIRST. 3) Presented training to 912 at our annual conference and in the community to youth with disabilities, their family members and interested community members. Our annual conference is a one day ever focusing on improving skills to improve post school outcomes for youth and/or educate them and families about the variety of options in employment, post-secondary education of training and independent living using a person centered approach. It also focuses on heeling families successfully navigate the special education process and learn more about specific disability issues. |
