Project Description
US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) - assisted adults with disabilities reside within all types of housing assistance yet do not always receive targeted assistance nor supports. By identifying gaps in quality of life, employment patterns and health disparities, this research grant will highlight areas that policymakers need to address.

HUD is currently evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of its new Section 811 Project Rental Assistance (PRA) program in serving extremely low-income nonelderly adults with disabilities. However, persons with disabilities reside throughout the HUD portfolio of rental housing assistance. Using linked HUD-National Health Interview Survey (HUD-NHIS) data, the research will improve understanding of:

The quality of life for all HUD-assisted working-age residents who have disabilities;
Employment patterns of all HUD-assisted working-age residents with disabilities, and,
Health disparities among all working-age SSDI beneficiaries, disabled SSI recipients, persons with disabilities who do not receive SSDI or SSI, and other residents.
