The purpose of this project is to provide short self-employment informational trainings across the state of Indiana with the goal of providing families with an overview of various examples of successful self-employment as well as discussion of potential barriers to determine if it is an employment option that they want to pursue. For those families who feel that self-employment may be the route that they want to go, those families will be provided with one two-day intensive self-employment workshop each year which will delve more deeply into the process for development of a self-employment venture, possible funding opportunities and other resources, development of marketing and operations plans, and business concept development including limited individual technical assistance. For those families who need more intensive support to realize their self-employment visions, staff at the Center on Community Living and Careers (CCLC) will provide ongoing technical assistance and product development and dissemination to support individuals with disabilities and their families to access and use needed and available resources and overcome barriers.
