The Supported Employment Training Project provides six days of required training in supported employment fundamentals quarterly along with optional/advanced events. The primary audience for the workshops is supported employment personnel whose agencies are Supported Employment Vendors through the OVR or OFB. Other participants may include: OVR or OFB counselors, teachers, Community Based Work Transition Program student employment coordinators, and persons with disabilities and/or their family members. Technical assistance is provided on request to any of the parties listed above. Additionally, a Supported Employment Leadership Series is offered one time per year for up to 12 participants involving twelve days of content plus a practicum -- time devoted for translation and reflection of content studied in the life of a job seeker who has a disability. In addition to learning about leading supported employment practices (e.g., discovery, customized employment, needs analysis, informational interviews), course participants will study two foundational frameworks central to decision making and implementation of quality supported employment: 1) Marc Golds 3 Try Another Way 2 approach to systematic instruction, and 2) Wolf Wolfensbergers Social Role Valorization (SRV) Theory |
