Project Description
This is a longitudinal project following young children who have a clinical diagnosis of specific language impairment and their families to determine the language factors that predict and characterize impairment so that the best treatments can be applied. Our laboratory is responsible for genetic studies to identify genes and genetic pathways to determine the neurodevelopmental processes involved in language disability. A renewal has been submitted to NIH which includes functional neuroimaging to visualize changes in language processing, and we have been told that this is very likely to be funded.
