Vita/Bio

Caryl Hitchcock, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Disability Studies and serves as Associate Graduate Faculty in the field of Special Education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She was the PI of TeenACE for Science: Improving Outcomes through Technology, an OSEP sponsored Steppingstones project. She also worked with the NB-ELL team and Project Ho’oku’i developing a variety of programs to increase literacy and technology skills for culturally and linguistically diverse students in grades K - 12. As a School Psychologist she has been a member of the HI DOE Traumatic Brain Injury Consulting Team since 2004. She is an advocate for families, has published research in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. She received the AERA Distinguished Research Paper Award in 2002 and 2009.
