Vita/Bio

Maria Quintero, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and human services administrator with 30+ years of experience in developmental disabilities.  Dr. Quintero graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor degree in psychology, then completed a Ph.D. in Psychology at Utah State University.  In Utah, and subsequently in Texas at Beaumont State Center and MHMRA of Harris County, she applied her knowledge of mental health and developmental disabilities to the development of programs for persons with severe behavior problems. She is currently employed at MHMRAHC as Assistant Deputy Director for Provider Services in the Intellectual Disabilities Division. Dr. Quintero has held adjunct faculty positions at Lamar University, North Harris Montgomery County Community College and Tomball College.  She is an Advanced Certified Facilitator for the University of Phoenix, where she has been Area Chair of the Social Sciences Department and Faculty Trainer. Dr. Quintero has conducted numerous inservices, seminars and workshops; presented over 50 professional papers at local, state, regional and national conferences; and consulted with schools and agencies in over 8 states. In 1998, she co-authored Functional Integration for Success: Preschool Intervention; and in 2005 published Death by Divorce, a guide through the grief process associated with divorce.
