Vita/Bio

Julie Steele, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC is an Assistant Professor at the University of Utah College of Nursing (Clinical) and holds an adjunct faculty position within the Department of Pediatrics. She is a Duke Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Fellow alumni (2015) and received the Utah Substance Abuse Advisory Council 2014 Governor's Award for her work on behalf of Drug Endangered Children. In addition, she participated in the Utah Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (UTAAP) Care for Children and Youth in Foster Care Chapter Grant Project (2013): Trauma informed care for youth in Utah Foster Care. Under this grant she continued her interest in advocacy for children in foster care while serving as the principle investigator for a pilot project to evaluate the feasibility of screening for toxic stress in a primary health care setting.
