Vita/Bio

Jennifer Casteix, MS, CCC-SLP, is a licensed and certified pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist with over 20 years of experience in evaluating and treating children with communication delays and disorders due to autism, prematurity, Down syndrome, genetic disorders, and neurological insult. She also specializes in working with children with feeding and swallowing disorders. Jennifer first began working with children with communication disorders in the mid 1980's as a student volunteer at the Autism Research Center at University of California, Santa Barbara, under the direction of Robert Koegel, PhD.  As the lead SLP at Tucson Medical Center, she worked with Radiology in developing the first comprehensive and collaborative swallowing assessment program in Southern Arizona. She collaborated with Pediatric Pulmonology, Nursing, and State of Arizona providers in developing a comprehensive protocol to provide care of medically fragile children and training for their parents as the children transitioned home. During this time, Jennifer was a Clinical Instructor of graduate students from universities in AZ, CA, CO and OH. As Clinical Assistant Professor in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the UA, Ms. Casteix provides classroom and clinical instruction to graduate students in Speech Pathology, specializing in autism and swallowing/feeding. She also provides services at the Diamond Children's Medical Center at the University Medical Center in Tucson.
