Please consider joining a special presentation by Linda Alsop of Utah State University as we celebrate DEAFBLIND AWARENESS WEEK - June 21-27, 2020. Linda's presentation will be held Wednesday, June 24th, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. (CDST). All are invited to hear about the Cogswell-Macy Act, training of teachers of the deafblind and training of the deafblind interveners.

Speaker:

Linda Alsop, M.Ed., is the Director of Deafblind Programs at the SKI-HI Institute at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. She has extensive experience working directly with children with combined vision and hearing loss and their families. She acts as a consultant in deafblindness, and is actively involved in national efforts to professionalize the intervener practice in the United States. She has developed numerous curriculum, training materials, and resources that are being used by families, professionals, and interveners throughout the country. She developed and implemented the first online higher education training program in the country that trains interveners to work with individuals who are deafblind. She works closely with parents of children who are deafblind on intervener advocacy efforts, and she is currently the director of the National Intervener and Advocate Association (NIAA). She is actively involved in supporting the Cogswell Macy Act and in supporting other initiatives to improve services for children and youth who are deafblind and their families.
