Welcome to the AUCD network, 2019-2020 Trainees! On Friday, September 27, we learned more about how you could get connect and get involved with the AUCD network. The two AUCD Emerging Leaders Interns, Meghan and Jazmin, were excited to actively engage with you all to share resources and opportunities to help you make the most out of your traineeship! They look forward to getting to know everyone this upcoming year. Some notable opportunities:
- Trainee Liaison recruitment closes on Friday, October 11. Be sure to email Jazmin at [email protected] if you're interested in being a liaison.
- There will be a webinar on Tuesday, October 29 at 2:00pm ET on how trainees can become more involved with Councils. Stay tuned for more information.

Meghan Breheney
2019-2020 Emerging Leaders Intern
The Children's Hospital at Montefiore, Bronx, NY
The Meghan Breheney is very excited to be one of the 2019-2020 AUCD Emerging Leaders Interns. Meghan is currently completing her third year of a Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship the Children's Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center at The Children's Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx, NY. She is a LEND Fellow and Maternal Child Health Bureau long-term trainee. Meghan received her Medical Degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2014 and completed a residency in General Pediatrics at Mount Sinai Hospital in 2016.
On a day-to-day basis, Meghan provides developmental evaluations as well as on going family center care to children with developmental disabilities in the Bronx. In addition Meghan's current research focuses on the early identification of developmental delays in children with severe and chronic medical conditions. She also oversees and teaches pediatric residents and medical students who rotate through the center. In her free time, Meghan enjoys running in Central Park, hiking in upstate New York and trying as many of New York City's Restaurants as she can.
Jazmin Burns
2019-2020 Emerging Leaders Intern
US Davis MIND Institute, Sacramento, CA
Jazmin Burns is AUCD's Communications and Engagement Emerging Leader Intern for 2019-2020. She is currently working as a Postdoctoral Scholar Fellow in the LEND program at the UC Davis MIND Institute. Jazmin graduated from Alliant International University - Sacramento in May 2019 with her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. She has been a part of the UC Davis MIND Institute and UC Davis Health System serving in many different roles since 2012. Her passion includes working with individuals who have neurodevelopmental disabilities and/or experienced trauma. Her passion also includes learning more about mental health policy and advocacy so that she can further support and empower families who feel as though they do not have a voice. Jazmin's dream is to continue to work at the UC Davis MIND Institute as a clinical psychologist, while simultaneously starting a private practice to serve underrepresented populations who have neurodevelopmental disabilities and mental health needs. In her free time, Jazmin enjoys traveling, cooking, eating, singing, watching movies/TV, playing videogames, and spending time with her husband and three cats. This is Jazmin's first year being a part of AUCD and she is very excited about what this year will bring!
Andy Imparato
Exeuctive Director
Association of University Centers on Disabilities
Andrew Imparato has served as executive director of the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) since 2013. As a disability rights lawyer and policy professional with more than 25 years of experience in government and advocacy roles, Imparato has worked with bipartisan policymakers to advance disability policy at the national level in the areas of civil rights, workforce development, and disability benefits. Prior to coming to AUCD, he was senior counsel and disability policy director for Chairman Tom Harkin on the US Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. Before that, he spent 11 years as President and CEO of the American Association of People with Disabilities, a national organization working to grow the political and economic power of the disability community. Imparato's perspective is informed by his personal experience with bipolar disorder.
Christine Liao
MCH Program Manager
Association of University Centers on Disabilities
Christine Liao is a Program Manager for AUCD's Maternal and Child Health technical assistance team. Her role is to engage and promote leadership among emerging leaders.
