Oklahoma LEND Graduate's Non-Profit Nationally Recognized

Jeanette O'Hara is an OK LEND 2022 graduate and Founder/Executive Director of the nonprofit, Will's House, located just outside Tulsa in Jenks, Oklahoma. Will's House serves as a specialized respite option that supports full time caregivers of children and young adults with medical needs or intellectual/developmental disabilities. Jeanette's approach is simple yet profound: "What do you need? How can we help you?" This philosophy reflects a commitment to addressing the diverse and often overlooked gaps in services for caregivers and families.

Announcement: Seeking Emerging Leader Board Member Nominations

The AUCD Board of Directors is seeking nominations from the network's Emerging Leader community to fill the Emerging Leader Board Member voting position on the Board. (*Note that this is not the same as the Emerging Leader Intern.) The Emerging Leader Board Member will be a voting member on AUCD's national Board of Directors and represent the Association and broader AUCD network. This position will bring the voice and perspective of the AUCD Emerging Leader Community, including but not limited to trainees and early career professionals in the network.

She lives on the island of St. Croix with her husband and daughter Sharon joined the Virgin Islands UCEDD (University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities) in 2012 and is the Assistant Director of Assistive Technology.

2024 Disability Policy Seminar Orientation and Policy Education 101 Workshop

This workshop will help prepare trainees for the 2024 Disability Policy Seminar taking place from April 8-10, 2024, in Washington, DC, to learn how to educate policymakers in DC and at home, as well as how to connect their experience and expertise to policy.

NTDC Presents: Recruiting and Supporting Diverse Trainees

The National Training Directors Council (NTDC) hosted an interactive discussion on recruiting and supporting diverse trainees within your training programs. The panel highlighted three training programs in the AUCD Network with experience recruiting and supporting diverse trainees, including trainees across states, trainees utilizing distance learning, trainees with lived experience and finally, second-year trainees.

2024 Leadership Academy Informational Webinar

This webinar offered interested potential applicants an opportunity to interact with the AUCD Leadership Academy faculty. The webinar featured a brief overview of the 2024 Academy curriculum and timeline. It was followed by a time for questions from potential applicants to the 2024 AUCD Leadership Academy. In addition, alumni will shared their reflections about the benefits they gained from participation in the week-long academy. and the follow-up activities.
