COVID-19 Vaccines for Children with Developmental Disabilities: Parent Survey of Willingness and Concerns
Compared to the general pediatric population, parents of nearly 400 children with a DD were more willing for them to receive COVID-19 vaccines. In this new pre-print by the RFK UCEDD (Bronx, NY) and SCDD UCEDD (Rochester, NY), parents of 75%, 49%, and 38% of children aged 12-17, 6-11 and 0-5 years-old, respectively, had gotten or would get their child vaccinated ASAP. (the study was fielded when vaccines were authorized for children aged 12+ years.)

Vanderbilt Kennedy Center (TN IDDRC, UCEDD, LEND) Produces Trio of Videos on the COVID-19 Vaccine and Individuals with Intellectual Disability
The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (VKC UCEDD)(TN IDDRC, UCEDD, LEND) has produced three brief videos to build COVID-19 vaccine confidence in the disability community. These videos feature an adult with an intellectual disability and a parent and her daughter with autism, who share their personal experiences, hesitancy, and decision-making related to getting themselves or their child vaccinated.

Georgetown UCEDD Creates COVID-19 Video Series featuring Family Physician
The Georgetown UCEDD created a COVID-19 video series featuring a family physician, called "Ask Dr. Kim." This series answers questions like "What is COVID-19?" and "What is all the talk about needing a booster shot?"

HRSA Awardees Study Impact of COVID-19 on Receipt of Services and Parent Mental Health in Children with ASD
University of Delaware�s Dr. Anjana Bhat, associate professor in physical therapy, and JP Laurenceau, professor in psychological and brain sciences, have been awarded a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) at the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for a new study to analyze the impacts of COVID-19 on receipt of behavioral, speech, occupational and physical therapy services and parent mental health in 9,000 children with autism from the SPARK cohort and to determine value derived from these services in an online capacity.

Telehealth and Individuals with IDD: Challenges and Best-Practices
On October 21, the WITH Foundation announced a $50,000 award to the Institute on Disability for a one-year initiative to investigate best practices for offering telehealth care to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Under the direction of Research Assistant Professor Kimberly Phillips, the research team will undertake a scoping review to identify challenges and best practices associated with providing telehealth to individuals with IDD

Friends and Family Campaign
As we move into the fall and winter, we'll see our friends and families on special occasions. Our "Friends and Family" Campaign shares tools on how to keep encouraging vaccine confidence in non-judgmental ways. Ask a friend or a family member that you may have who is in a local community or civic group and reach out together to listen to any questions or concerns and share information in a kind way.

Partners in Maine DD Network Collaborate on COVID-19 Vaccination Video PSAs
Partners in the Maine Developmental Disabilities Network (the University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies, Disability Rights Maine, Maine Developmental Disabilities Council, and Speaking Up for Us) collaborated with Gray Media Group (WAGM-TV) to design, produce and broadcast seven video public service announcements (PSAs) to help increase COVID-19 vaccinations among people with disabilities and direct support professionals; the individuals who support people with disabilities where they live and work.

HDI Launches Storytelling Website
The University of Kentucky Human Development Institute Digital Storytelling Initiative highlights the stories and lived experiences of people with disabilities. Interviews address multiple life experience living and working in the community. Most recently, the Vaccine Confidence and Access for People for People with Disabilities Initiative interviewed with people with disabilities about their vaccine experience and the importance of keeping our communities healthy.

Request for Application: Trainee and Training Director Stipend Opportunity for Local Vaccine Outreach
Submission deadline is extended to 5 pm ET on September 21, 2021.
Through an upcoming single-source award from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD), a selection of Trainees and Training Directors from the AUCD network members will conduct COVID-19 vaccine outreach with the disability community as part of a larger effort, Local Vaccine Outreach with the Disability Community. Successful applicants will propose innovative message delivery streams and local modalities to reach people with disabilities (including individuals not connected to service delivery systems), their families, and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), with the overarching goal of boosting COVID-19 vaccination rates in the disability community.

COVID-19 Screening in Schools for Children with IDD
Since November 2020, investigators at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine have studied whether weekly saliva-based screening testing of staff and students and mitigation strategies may help keep children with disabilities safe at school.
