Current and Former LEND Trainees Provide Unique EI Services Through the FOCUS Program
As the New Mexico LEND cohort liaison to the Emerging Leaders Community, I had the opportunity to interview Una Vicenti and Laura Hawkey of the FOCUS program. Vicenti is an Occupational Therapist and Director of Early Intervention Services and Laura works as a Family Service Coordinator and developmental specialist within the program. Hawkey is a current LEND trainee and Vicenti is a LEND fellow. Vicenti reported that 3 other employees at FOCUS, including the program director, are LEND fellows.

2021 Autism Acceptance Month Webinar Series
AUCD's Autism Special Interest Group (SIG) is sponsoring a series of three webinars for Autism Acceptance Month. Topics will range from telehealth to cognitive behavioral therapy to caregiver coaching strategies. We will also host an open house for AUCD network members to learn more about activities of the Autism SIG.

AUCD Policy Fellowship 2021
The purpose of the Fellowship is to provide significant experiences in national level activities related to policy and legislative development, advocacy, program development, technical assistance, and AUCD administration. The Fellowship in Disability Policy is envisioned as a mutually beneficial arrangement between the Fellow, the Fellows community, and the AUCD central office.

2021 EHDI Conference Scholarships for LEND Audiology Trainees
Application deadline: February 22, 2021
AUCD has made available 25 scholarships of up to $225 each to support LEND audiology trainees in attending the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Virtual Conference on March 2-5, 2021. All current LEND audiology trainees, including those in their externship year, are eligible to apply. However, priority will be given to trainees from programs that do not currently receive supplemental funding and trainees that have not attended the EHDI Conference in previous years. Application deadline: February 22, 2021.

Developing Professionals Standards of Inclusion for Community Settings
At the Cincinnati Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) program, one of our research projects involves creating a comprehensive set of standards for inclusion that we can use to help public venues become more inclusive. Although public venues are required to meet accessibility standards under the ADA, many individuals and families with disabilities still do not have true access to inclusion.

We are excited to announce the AUCD Emerging Leaders Interns for the 2020-2021 training year. These trainees will serve as visible ambassadors to the broader AUCD network, interacting with AUCD staff at all levels and the AUCD Board of Directors' Emerging Leaders Representative.

NH-ME LEND 2020 Cohort Raises Expectations for All by Meaghan Cullinane
"No one rises to low expectations." New Mexican Congresswoman Deborah Haaland's words motivated leaders and trainees alike during the Hill Visit day at the AUCD conference in Washington DC, "Leading Change Together," this past November. These words were shared with the NH-ME LEND cohort and guided us through a rigorous training year working to improve the health and education of children and youth with neurodevelopmental disabilities by engaging in training related to interdisciplinary, family-centered, culturally competent systems of care.

UNMC MMI UCEDD Hosts Nebraska Statewide Disability Leadership Training
The Munroe-Meyer Institute University Center of Excellence for Developmental Disabilities program (MMI UCEDD) has hosted Disability Leadership training series across the state, including the communities of Omaha, Scottsbluff, Norfolk, Kearney and Grand Island. This training series is a partnership between UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute University Center of Excellence for Developmental Disabilities Program and several Nebraska disabilities programs; in addition, it has been funded by the Nebraska Council on Developmental Disabilities.

Indiana LEND offers online reflective practice opportunities for state's Part C providers amid Coronavirus outbreak
The Riley Child Development Center's LEND is partnering with Indiana's Part C program, First Steps, and infant mental health association, Infancy Onward, to offer free online reflective practice opportunities beginning this week. The groups are facilitated by RCDC-LEND faculty and regional partners who are infant mental health specialists

Updates from the State Public Health Autism Resource Center
Grant activities for the project period will focus on implementation three key evidence-based/informed strategies: Shared Resource, Family Navigation and Provider Integration and Education. The community currently has access to their new team SharePoint site to facilitate resource sharing and peer learning. They are also participating in frequent Affinity Group meetings focused on three key needs of the community: Family Navigation; Setting up a Learning Community; and Evaluation/Outcome Assessment. These needs were identified by the grantees at the October kick-off meeting and focus on peer-to-peer discussion and troubleshooting and occasional subject matter experts.

AUCD Policy Fellowship 2020
The Policy Fellowship is an opportunity for an advanced network member to live and work in Washington, DC for one year, learning about AUCD, current legislation affecting people with disabilities and their families, and exercising leadership skills. The Fellow's responsibilities will be developed based on the needs of the Association and the interest and experience of the Fellow. Deadline: March 31; start date: September 2014.
