Using Innovative and Alternative Approaches to De-Escalating Individuals in Crisis Situations

A mobile mental health clinic will discuss strategies for working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and disadvantaged and underserved populations who are experiencing a crisis situation. The webinar will focus on alternatives to police involvement, promoting client-centered communications, scene safety, de-escalation strategies, rapport building, and the role of self in crisis intervention.

2020 START National Training Institute

The START National Training Institute (SNTI) is an annual in-person training event that brings together hundreds of START team members, self advocates, families, and national & international leaders in the field of MH/IDD to share expertise, tools, and best practices. The training spans two and a half days and features keynote addresses, panel discussions, breakout sessions from four content-focused strands, a judged research poster session & professional networking event, the START Film premiere, and a Sunday evening coffee house.
