The 2017 Summer Institute on Theology and Disability will be held in Azusa, California, June 5-8, 2017 at Azusa Pacific University. The Institute brings together academics, theologians and others to explore the inclusive intersections of faith and disabilities.

The purpose of the Spring Symposium is to bring a myriad of Center interactive activities, trainings, and workshops to one location, all at one three-day event. The keynote speaker this year is Andy Imparato, Association of University Centers on Disabilities executive director, which is the membership organization supporting the nation's 67 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, one of which is the USD Center for Disabilities.

A century of medical advances and public health improvements have dramatically altered the epidemiology of child health. Mortality rates for many pediatric conditions such as acute infectious diseases, prematurity, congenital heart disease, and cystic fibrosis have significantly declined. At the same time, the number of children with developmental, behavioral, and mental health conditions has increased. Chronic medical disease in children is often associated with neurodevelopmental disorders but the developmental aspects are overshadowed by the chronic disease diagnosis. The Alaska LEND is hosting a webinar on ePortfolios for use in LEND Programs. National ePortfolio expert, Paul Wasko, will present about ePortfolios and how they are being used, with some ideas for LEND programs.
