MIND Institute's Summer Institute on Neurodevelopmental Disorders

The focus of the Institute is to help participants keep pace with the latest advances in neurodevelopmental research and the most current standards for best practices in prevention, assessment, treatment, and support services, and increase their knowledge and skills in the areas of developmental disabilities, early identification, service provision, inclusion, transition to adulthood, and other medical, legal, social and policy issues related to disabilities.

Achieving Weight Loss in Adults with Intellectual Disability: Lessons Learned Inside the Ropes
fromhttp://aaidd.org/content_9502.cfmJoin this AAIDD webinar to hear more about a diet and incentive program designed by a multi-disciplinary team at The University of Kansas (KU) including dieticians, exercise physiologists, and behavior analysts. The program was a combination of reduced-calorie packaged meals (PM) and a modified stoplight approach (SLDm) coupled with encouragement to increase walking. The primary objective of this presentation is to share details not likely to see inclusion in formal publications. The presenters have personally served as the interventionists for over 100 of the IDD participants. They intend to offer observations and insights helpful to those who may be considering interventions.
