24th Annual Chronic Illness and Disability Conference: Transition from Pediatric to Adult-Based Care

Because of increased awareness of transitioning to adult-based care, clinicians are required to update their knowledge of the changing strategies for integrating emerging adult-based care into practice. For all conference participants, there will be a discussion of the legal issues involved in healthcare transition, as well as time to meet and talk with faculty in small groups, exchange ideas among participants, and share knowledge and information about how best to plan for a successful transition to adulthood.

Reflecting UCEDD Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Commitments in the Core Grant Application

AUCD hosted a webinar in September 2021 on incorporating the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) Action Plan into the UCEDD five-year plans. In this follow-up virtual workshop, UCEDD leaders will discuss strategies for demonstrating their ED&I commitments in the needs, evaluation, organizational capacity, and leveraging sections of the core grant application.

Lessons Learned from AUCD's Language and Communications Access Plan

In this webinar, we will share about AUCD's Language and Communications Access Plan and lessons learned from the first two years of implementation. From 2019-2021, the UCEDD Resource Center (URC) supported a pilot implementing the plan, with the creation of the Plain Language Advisory Group and Spanish Language Caucus. Join us to learn about the work of both groups, what the URC has learned in its efforts to improve the language and communications accessibility of its technical assistance, and how this might apply to the work at your center or program.

Incorporating the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) Action Plan into the UCEDD 5-Year Plan

The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) Action Plan calls for UCEDDs to work with their Consumer Advisory Committees (CACs) to incorporate specific goals, objectives, and actions steps to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion into their five-year plans. In this virtual workshop, UCEDD leaders and staff will explore how to effectively accomplish this priority within and across the UCEDD core functions.

In this webinar, expert coaches will share their experiences implementing the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Action Plan. They will share some of the challenges they've faced and strategies they've used to make meaningful progress on the action steps outlined in the plan. In addition to the panel discussion, learn more about the coaches' areas of expertise since these coaches are available through the end of September for individualized coaching opportunities.

2020 AUCD Leadership Academy

The AUCD Leadership Academy is a year-long program designed to enhance the skills of current and emerging leaders from the disability network to build coalitions to improve systems of supports and services. The Leadership Academy seeks participants from UCEDDs, LENDs, and their disability partners to come together to immerse themselves for a week of study, shared experiences, self-evaluation, and skill development. Participants will engage with their cohort, Academy staff, local coaches, and national allies in the months before and the year following the experience. The Academy will focus on the exploration of shared values and commitments to civil and human rights, assessments of personal and leadership strengths, skills in building partnerships to achieve collective impact, and establishing personal and professional leadership goals.

Admin Essentials: Managing Staff and Volunteers with Guardians

This installment of the Admin Essentials Series will focus on the topic of hiring and managing staff and volunteers who are under guardianship. We will discuss practices, policies, and resources about employment of people under guardianship. We will be joined by Cathy Costanzo and Anna Krieger from the Center for Public Representation, who will speak on the basics of guardianship nationally, how it applies to the employment of people with disabilities, and where to look in your state for more information.
