Guidance for UCEDD Carryover Requests and No-Cost Extensions

ACL grant management specialist LaDeva Harris will present and discuss guidance for UCEDDs requesting carryover of funds into a subsequent budget year. Celia Feinstein, Executive Director of the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University and AUCD Board of Directors Immediate Past-President, will address common errors and pitfalls in carryover request submissions.

2018 AUCD Trainee Summit

On Sunday evening immediately before the Disability Policy Seminar, AUCD is hosting a special Trainee Policy Summit! Attendees will have exclusive access to Hill staffers and former trainees now working in policy, and learn from the experts how to best craft your message for Wednesday's Hill visits. An evening reception will provide a comfortable background for trainees to meet and network with over 200 peers from around the country.

AUCD Leadership Academy

The AUCD Leadership Academy is a week-long program designed to enhance the skills of current and emerging leaders from the disability network in building coalitions that will improve systems of supports and services. Participation is open to individuals from Self Advocacy Organizations, UCEDDs, LENDs, IDDRCs, CILs, DD Councils, Disability Rights, community based disability organizations, and other disability partners to come together to immerse themselves for a week of study, shared experiences, self-evaluation, and skill development. Participants will continue to engage with their cohort, academy staff, local coaches, and national allies in the year following the experience. The academy will focus on the exploration of shared values and commitments to civil and human rights, assessments of personal and leadership strengths, skills in building partnerships to achieve collective impact, and establishing personal and professional leadership goals.

19th Annual Chronic Illness and Disability Conference: Transition from Pediatric to Adult-based Care

AUCD is proud to support the online broadcast of the Baylor College of Medicine's: 19th Annual Chronic Illness and Disability Conference: Transition from Pediatric to Adult-based Care. All MCH Training Programs, UCEDDs, and their collaborators (Title V, clinical partner sites, etc.) are invited and encouraged to participate remotely. Host a live stream of this conference for trainees, faculty, staff, families, and others at your center or program. Eligible broadcast sites include MCH training programs, UCEDDs, and Title V programs.

Innovations and Best Practices in Medicaid Managed Long-Term Services and Supports: An Opportunity for the AUCD Network

Based on a 2019 AUCD policy brief written by Sarah Swanson of the Munroe-Meyer Institute and the accompanying paper, Stakeholder Guide to Understand and Have Involvement in MLTSS, the Webinar is designed to network members and individuals with disabilities and their families understand this sometimes complex topic so they can be engaged in this policy change. The Webinar will look at some specific examples of new programs, trends and innovations arising since the paper was completed.

The Role of Cultural Diversity in Mentoring

Mentoring is fundamental to growth and success. Therefore, it is incumbent for mentors to have the ability to discuss challenges faced by culturally diverse individuals and, ultimately, have a repertoire of mentoring strategies to develop talents and skills in mentees from underrepresented backgrounds in LEND programs. This webinar will present mentoring theories so mentors will have a basic understanding of the mentoring process and provide strategies that promote communication and trust between mentor and mentee.

Join Matthew Wesley Williams, Author of AUCD's Charting Your Course: A Toolkit for New Directors of University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) for a walkthrough of this robust resource. Williams will model and contextualize each section and its modules suited for the current educational landscape. This toolkit contains a series of concepts and exercises designed to help early-stage UCEDD directors begin well in their roles. It is designed to provide concepts, frameworks, and tools that build the capacity of UCEDD directors for organizational and systems leadership.
