Webinar Description:

In this webinar, AUCD’s Emergency Preparedness SIG will meet with Dr. Carol Salas Pagán, Psy.D., a FEMA National Advisory Council (NAC) member. Dr. Pagán will discuss her work with the Council, which advises the FEMA Administrator about emergency management, including preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation for natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other manmade disasters. In addition, she will give an overview of current FEMA initiatives related to disabilities. An interactive question and answer session among AUCD network members will take place after her presentation.

This webinar is presented by the Emergency Preparedness Special Interest Group (SIG). Emergency Preparedness SIG members discuss the latest on emergencies and disability inclusion. Presenters: 

Carol smiling with brown hair in a white polka dot top Dr. Salas Pagan (President-Elect, AUCD Board) has been the PR-UCEDD Director since November 2015, and before that, she was the Associate Director for almost 3 years. A Doctor in Clinical Psychology and previously a PR/UCEDD trainee, she also graduated from the National Disability Leadership Institute. Currently, Dr. Pagán is faculty of the Graduate School of Public Health of the Medical Sciences Campus of the UPR. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of University Centers on Disabilities. She is also an appointed member of the PR P&A office board and a member of the PR-DD Council. Locally Dr. Salas is an active member in diverse Advisory Councils and boards of nonprofit organizations for the Protection, Advocacy, and independent living movement for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities, and violence against women. As a UCEDD Director, she consults with special projects with 2 LEND programs to coordinate intercultural learning experiences for their LEND trainees.
