Webinar Description:

We will provide a discussion of caregiver coaching strategies over telehealth using two different Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions (NDBIs) and consider options for multiple formats (synchronous and asynchronous). Benefits and challenges to using telehealth technology for caregiver coaching will be explored. A parent of a young child with autism who participated in coaching, both in-person and through telehealth, will share her experiences.  

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand strategies for engaging caregiver’s in intervention through telehealth platforms. 
  2. Identify various methods for providing resources and information through telehealth. 
  3. Identify potential benefits and barriers to conducting intervention through telehealth.

Dr. Aubyn Stahmer is a psychologist, a BCBA, and Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at UC Davis, Director of Community-based Treatment Research, UC Davis MIND Institute. Her research focuses on examining the use of evidence-based intervention for children with autism spectrum disorder and their families in community settings.

Sarah Dufek, PhD

Dr. Sarah Dufek is a psychologist, a BCBA, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the UC Davis MIND Institute. She has expertise in diagnostic assessment and early intervention. She has extensive experience using telehealth strategies for both evaluation and intervention for young children with autism.

Otome Lindsey is the mother of Nobu Pang who was diagnosed at 18 months. Nobu and our family have participated in workshops, telehealth and in home treatments through UCD Mind Institute’s DOTS study, Alta Regional and Sac Unified School District EIP. Nobu currently has 2 hours of in-home treatment sessions 4 days a week, 30 minutes of speech therapy twice a week through zoom, and 30 minutes of occupational therapy once a week through zoom.
